इन्विटेशन तब और अब
सामान्यतया किसी समारोह में आमंत्रण का चलन आत्मीयता के साथ कह देने भर से हुआ करता था और लोग शामिल हो जाते। फिर अंतर्देशीय या पोस्टकार्ड का चलन हुआ जो दूर-दराज संदेश भिजवाता और जबकि खूबसूरत डिज़ाइन वाले कार्ड का चलन हुआ तब यह आमंत्रण का बेहतर विकल्प बनकर जारी है।
आमंत्रण-पत्र की सुविधा यह है कि इसमें सुंदर आकर्षक कार्ड में दिन, तारीख़, समय आदि के साथ सभी गतिविधियों का ज़िक्र होता है। लोग अपनी सुविधा देखते हुए शामिल होते हैं और चाहे तो लम्बे समय तक उन आकर्षक कार्डों को रख सकते हैं।
वैसे आमंत्रण की खास तारीख उस खास दिन के लिए होती है जब सारे कार्य सम्पन्न होने के बाद विशेष दिन के आयोजन की बात होती है। जैसे शादी के आमंत्रण-पत्र में खास शादी या स्वागत-समारोह का दिन निश्चित होता है। लेकिन लोगों की अपनी मर्ज़ी है कि वे अन्य समारोह में शामिल होना चाहते हैं अथवा नहीं। कई बार कुछ कार्यों के संपादन में अपने करीबी लोगों को शामिल किए जाने के आमंत्रण-पत्र में भी अन्य लोगों का शामिल होना व्यवस्था में कठिनाई उत्पन्न करता है। ऐसे में कार्ड की एक और परम्परा भी निकल आई कि कुछ कार्ड अपने करीबियों के लिये और कुछ परिचितों के लिये डिजाइन की जाने लगी। इनके अलावा वर्गसंगत कार्ड भी बनने लगे जो अपने स्टेटस और उससे नीचे के लोगों को दिए जाने लगे।
इन सबके अलावा डिजिटल दुनिया में सर्वसुलभ ई-कार्ड का प्रचलन हुआ और इसमें भी व्यक्ति सुलभ व्यवस्थाओं का ख्याल रखते हुए आमंत्रण-पत्र भेजे जाने लगे।
तो इन सारे आमंत्रण की सर्वसुलभ व्यवस्था को देखते हुए बात वहीं तक आ रुकी कि किसी समारोह में इतने खर्च किये जाने के बाद की जो आत्मीयता कार्डों के प्रचलन के पूर्व की थी वह शायद अधिक सही थी। क्योंकि सिर्फ कह भर दिए जाने के बाद बड़ी शिद्दत से लोग उसी अपनेपन के साथ समारोह में शामिल होते थे और लम्बे समय तक याद रखते थे।

Invitation then and now
Generally, the trend of invitation to a function was to say with affinity and people would join. Then came the trend of inland or postcards that sent messages far and wide, and while cards with beautiful designs became the trend, it continues to be a better alternative to invitations.
The convenience of the invitation card is that it mentions all the activities in a beautiful attractive card with the day, date, time etc. People join at their convenience and can keep those attractive cards for a long time if they want.
By the way, the special date of invitation is for that special day when after the completion of all the work, there is talk of organizing a special day. For example, in the invitation letter of marriage, the day of the special wedding or reception is fixed. But people have their own choice whether they want to participate in other celebrations or not. Sometimes the involvement of other people in the invitation letter to involve people close to them in the performance of some tasks creates difficulty in the arrangement. In such a situation, another tradition of cards also emerged that some cards were designed for their close ones and for some acquaintances. Apart from these, class corresponding cards were also made which were given to the people of their status and below.
Apart from all this, universally accessible e-cards were prevalent in the digital world and in this also invitation letters were sent taking care of the accessible arrangements.
So, looking at the universal arrangement of all these invitations, the matter has come to a standstill that the affinity which was before the introduction of cards after spending so much in a function was probably more correct. Because after just saying that, people used to attend the ceremony with the same affinity and remember it for a long time.
